working at HotJobs.com. They worked in
different departments and didn't really know
each other at the time.
Two years later,Sarah (Declan's sister)
and Ellie (Rose's sister) both started
working at HotJobs. Ellie and Sarah wanted
to set up Rose and Declan.
Ellie told Rose that Declan was going to
ask her out, and Rose flatly said "no way!"
Rose had been on a few bad dates just
recently and clearly wanted to avoid
another disaster. Well 5 minutes later,
Rose got a hello email from Declan.
After much persuasion by Ellie, Rose
and Declan went out on a date, but both
were nervous and the date went ok.
Ellie convinced us to go out again, and
then the spark was lit.
Rose moved in October of 2004. Rose
after trip people thought we were going to get engaged.
- Hawaii - no ring
- Ireland - no shamrocks
- Paris - no escargo
Valentine's Day. But alas fate had other plans.
Declan told Rose he'd like to go up to Newport, RI for his birthday
weekend. They had been talking about going up to Newport since they started
dating, but never had the chance. At this point, Declan decided it was now or
never...as Rose was probably getting tired of waiting around. (especially after
the Valentine's day in Paris trip)
Two days before the trip, Declan went to Tiffany's to get a
ring! He was sadly informed it would take up to 12 weeks!
Plan B was born:
- Get temp ring to propose
- get Tiffany ring later
Off to the Diamond district to find a temporary ring to propose.
Apparently cubic zirconia is fairly expensive! And what's the use of spending
that money on something that she's never going to wear again, after getting
the Tiffany ring. After some haggling and harrassment at the Diamond district,
Declan ends up finding a diamond ring close to home that not only would
be nice enough to propose, but she can wear it afterwards!
So while on a mansion tour, Declan says to Rose:
"So I was thinking about what I wanted for my birthday this year,
but the only thing I want for my birthday is you."
(Declan drops to one knee)
"Will you Marry me?"
At first Rose didn't know what was going on, and thought I was joking
around. But when she realized what was going on.....She said YES!
